FOX, E.B,

VINCENT, E.D.

When Dr. A. H. Harris' drug store got into financial trouble in 1885 in Washington, KS, E. B. Fox bought the firm, renamed it the E. B. Fox & Co. Drug Store and ran it until 1904. During that time, he was very active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank and as mayor, as well as Chairman of the County Republican Party and on the School Board. In his later years, rheumatism began to restrict his activities, so in 1904, he sold a half interest in the store to young E. D. Vincent, forming the Fox & Vincent Drug Store. Vincent was born in Washington, KS, had graduated from pharmacy college and had 5 years of experience as a druggist, being licensed in 3 states. The next year, 1905, Vincent takes on a partner, Ora Smith, and they buy the other half of Fox's interest, and operate under the name of Vincent & Smith. The picture below is a 2 ounce bottle used by the short-lived Fox & Vincent.
